When to Go:

The Similan Islands National Park is accessible
between October and May.

Best Time to Go:

 February to April

How to Get There:

The Nearest Airport is Phuket International – HKT

The best point to leave mainland towards the Similan Islands is
Thap Lamu Pier at Khao Lak. Newer operators also leave from Baan Nam Kem, just north of Khao Lak.

Transfers from Phuket Airport to the Piers at Khao Lak takes maximum 1 hour. Transfers from central or southern Phuket to Khao Lak Piers can take between 2 and 4 hours.

Entry Fee Non-Thai Person: 500,- THB
Entry Fee Thai Citizen (or Work Permit holders): 100,- THB
Diving Fee 1 Day Non-Thai Person: 200,- THB
Payable either at the pier or on arrival at the islands. Operator handling of park-fees is limited from 2015/16.
July 2015

Fee Combination Examples:

For one day diving, the overall fee is 700,- THB (entry + diving fee).
For two days diving it is 900,- THB (1x entry fee plus 2x diving fee)

Accomodation on the Islands

A reservation for the bungalows is highly recommended, otherwise it is possible to get stuck on the islands without a place to sleep. Reservations can be done via the online reservation form of the official Thai department or with a local operator. A reservation does not include the transfer from mainland, this has to be booked separately by one of the many local speedboat operators. One way transfer fees on a common speedboat are about 1400,- U$ per person. There are two types of bungalows available, the deluxe version for 65,- U$ a night and the standard bungalow for 35,- U$. Numerous tents can be found on Island Nr 4 and Island Nr 8 for 20,- U$ per night.

Liveaboard Trips

Similan Liveaboard trips are best booked in advance, prior to visit and hotel bookings! It is always much easier to find a hotel room on land, than a free cabin on a diving boat for specific days. The liveaboard operator will take care of all park fee payments and organization and logistic aspects.

National Park Headquarter

The Headquarter is located near Thap Lamu Pier on mainland. On Island #4 and Island #8 the National Park authorities run ranger stations and further National Park facilities.
