On 6th of October the Similan National Park Head Office in Thap Lamu has announced the new rules & operating regulations for the upcoming 2015/17 season.
Also new strict operating and monitoring regulations for Similan tour operators have been introduced by the Park Authorities. The main beaches are beeing divided in “traffic zones” and swimming designated areas, clearly visible via floating line markers.
- Tour operators are responsible for not letting guests enter the water at the traffic zones of the beaches.
- All park visitors have to take a lifejacket with them, when they enter the water at the designated snorkel sites away from the beaches.

Tour operators & guides are responsible for imposing the National Park rules. A new 100-Point monitoring system for Tour Operators has been announced, to account for every violation by their respecting guests. The Park Head Office wants to publish the results of this seasons company monitoring. After a certain amount of violations tour operators might be revoked their operating license.
